Our 2014 Summer Camp is in full swing at Rockledge Montessori.
Each camp day we have a book and snack that is geared around the theme for the week or session.
We started the summer camp sessions off with Roots Week. During this week we learned parts of the seeds planted some seeds, talked about what roots we can eat, learned to take care of a garden, and made a worm box.
Summer Session 1 – Animal Planet – May 26th-June 6th
This week we will talk about the animal classes, Mammal and why it is a mammal, what is a reptile (we made snakes that day out of neck ties), what is a habitat and what animals live where, what is a bird and animal you can live with.
Summer Session 2 – Symphony of the Five Senses – June 9th-June 20th
We started this camp session this week! There was a senses game on Monday, we will be working on sight on Tuesday, water day every Wednesday, smell on Thursday, Donuts for Dad on Friday.
Week 2 of camp will include: Monday Touch, Tuesday Taste, Wednesday Water Day, Thursday Hearing, Friday Movement and Music.
Summer Session 3 – Outback – June 23rd-July 3rd
What is the outback and where is it, Animals of Australia, what is a dideridoo, how did aborigines tell stories, aboriginal art, and a 4th of July Picnic.
Summer Session 4 – Art Gallery July 7th-July 18th
What is Pointillism, Abstract, abstract expressionism (Jackson Pollock), abstract expressionist (Jasper Johns), American moderism (Georigia O’Keeffee), neoplasticism (Piet Mondrian), sculpture (Dale chihuly), linocut (Print Making).
